John A. Adams Sr., 90, Altoona, died May 29, 2019 at UPMC Altoona. Born September 3, 1928 in Tunnelhill, son of the late Samuel M. and Ella Agnes (Miller) Adams. Preceded in death by brother, Sam.

Survived by wife of 60 years, the former Joan Angeski, whom he married October 1, 1958 in Altoona. Children, John Jr. of Altoona, Lisa Adams of Altoona, and Joseph (Vonda K. Woodward) of Gainesville, VA, grandchildren, Joshua and Taylor Adams, brother, Lewis (Jean Delozier) of Coupon. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. John served as a Staff Sgt. in the Quartermaster Corp. during the Korean War. He worked as a purchasing agent/ marketing manager for Automotive Supply, Altoona for 37 1/2 years and retired in 1992.  

He enjoyed hunting, trout fishing, his vegetable garden and was a bee keeper for over 60 years. John was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, 9622 St. Demetrius Council, the 2B’s and C Beekeepers Assn., a 30 year member of the Troop I Boy Scouts of America, and a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. Friends will be received from 9:00 AM until time of funeral Mass at 10:00 AM Monday at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
