Geraldine “Gerry” Gauntner, 94, Ashville, died December 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter and son in law, Margie (Don) McMullen. Born June 5, 1924 in Coalport, daughter of the late Fred C. and Pearl (Stephens) Krug. Preceded in death by husband, Ray on February 15, 2002, son Kenneth, sisters, Olive Flick, Catherine Carter, and Jean Adams, brothers, Paul, John, George, Delmont, Fred ll, and Amandus. Survived by children, Marjorie (Don) McMullen of Ashville, and Thomas of Altoona, grandchildren, Brenda (Jim) Smithmyer, Dan (Naomi) McMullen, David (April) McMullen, great grandchildren, Jaylynn and Bryce Smithmyer, Mackenzie, Hayden, Zoe’ and Olivia McMullen, sister, Isabelle (Bob) Kirkpatrick, brother, Pat (Jean Ann), and several very attentive and loving nieces and nephews. Gerry was a very talented homemaker. She was well known in earlier years for her wedding cakes and baking skills. She “Loved People”, playing cards and her bingo buddies. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Member of the Altar Rosary Society and St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant. Committal, St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5 until 8 PM Friday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church Cemetery in Gerry’s memory. www.gibbonsfhashvillecoalport.com

It was an honor being Gerrys neighbor for so many years. I loved her stories about living in Ohio and about her earlier years. She baked our wedding cake and it was beautiful. Sienna is so sad I think she thought she would be back. Its so rd to look at her house now. We will all miss her.
