Robert E. “Bob” Adams 84, Chest Springs, died February 9, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born October 18, 1931 in St. Augustine, son of the late Walter E. and Mary Jane (Hoover) Adams.  Survived by wife of 60 years the former Jean Krug whom he married June 25, 1955 at St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, daughters:

Grandchildren: Dane Robert ( Kate) Kalwanaski   and Coryn Kalwanaski

Also survived by a brother in law, 2 sisters in law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by brothers: Gerald and Sherman and sisters: Della Davis and Ada Bender Hoover. Graduate of Patton High School class of 1949. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Worked for AT & T for a number of years, owned and operated Adams Tavern, Chest Springs for 25 years, and worked for E.P. Bender Coal Company for 18 years and retired in 1994. Bob enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, playing cards, going to hunting camp, lawn and garden work, driving the potato truck for Hite’s farm and working around the church. Life member of the Chest Springs Sportsmen,  member of the Chest Springs Hunting Camp, Loretto American Legion, Ashville VFW, and St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, Rev. Christopher Lemme and Rev. Donald Boslett Celebrants. Committal, Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 PM Friday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Friday afternoon. Military Rites in charge of Ashville VFW, Loretto American Legion and other local Military Organizations. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, in Bob’s memory. www.gibbonsfhashvillecoalport.com
