John E. “Skip” Treon Jr. 71, R. D. Ashville, died November 11, 2018 at home. Born January 20, 1947 in Altoona, son of the late John E. Sr. and Margaret Jane (Decker) Treon. Preceded in death by niece, Jennifer Treon, nephews Benjamin and Donald Treon, and his dog and special friend, Molly. Survived by brothers, Raymond (Mary Ann Krug) of Cresson, Michael (Frances Neff) of Tyrone, William (Kathliene Dodson) of East Freedom, Gary (Jane Bender) of R.D. Ashville, Steve (Lois Stutzman) of Duncansville, Robert (Tina Miller) of Patton and Matthew (Sondra Dodson) of Claysburg. Also survived by several aunts and uncles and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Skip was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and was an avid football fan. He retired from Butterick, Altoona after 26 years of service. Skip was inducted into the Altoona High School Football Hall of Fame Class of 1962. At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America where he attained the Order of Arrow and Eagle Scout, also a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant. Committal, St. Thomas Cemetery. Military Rites in charge of Local Military Organizations. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Humane Society or St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville in Skip’s memory.
