Harold E. Owens 94, Ashville, died September 12, 2015 at the home of his son and daughter in law Barry and Elizabeth “Sis” Owens, R.D. Ashville. Born June 5, 1921 in Valeria, Iowa, son of the late Robert and Creta (Emery) Owens. Preceded in death by wife, Zita (Burgoon) Owens on March 25, 2010,brothers, Roger and Robert  and sister, Maxine Zachery.

Survived by sons:

Larry (Susan Kovalak)                       Ashville R.D.

Barry (Elizabeth “Sis” Grove)         Ashville R.D.

Grandchildren: Barrett (Carey), and twins, Aerinne Morisdi (Kevin) and Andrew (Aimee)

Great Grandchildren: Dylan, Adam, Aiden, Larissa and a one to be born in days.

Brother:

Ralph                    Mingo, Iowa

Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

WWll Navy Veteran where he served as 3rd class carpenters mate in the Pacific Theatre. Harold worked for 40 years as a carpenter and 18 of those years as a union carpenter. He served as trustee for local 900 Carpenters Union. Member of the Ashville VFW, Loretto American Legion, Chest Springs Senior Citizens, Past President of Ashville Borough, Charter member of the Ashville Volunteer Fire Company, and member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Tuesday, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant. Committal, Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 PM Monday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St. Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held and a Fireman’s Memorial Service will be held at 7:00PM. Military Rites in charge of Ashville VFW, Loretto American Legion and other local Military Organizations. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Ashville Volunteer Fire Company in Harold’s memory.

barry and larry sending prayers for you and families, been years since seen uncle harold, think might of been the time you came with him larry and you all came to my place in colfax for a visit you, your dad, uncle ralph and my dad roger. carol and ralph have been great keeping us updated on uncle harold,and him having his family with him all these years.i know he will be missed alot.. prayers hugs cousin janice and families

Although many years have passed since I have seen my PA family, you were thought of often. I am so sorry for the loss of your father. I have fond memories of the past with my uncle.
