Kenneth “Joe” Bearer, 81, Hastings, died November 4, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Born July 15, 1938 in Hastings, son of the late Harvey and Mary Ruth Bearer. Preceded in death by grandson, Joey Bearer, brother, David “Butch”, sisters; Mildred Pavia, Dorothy Anna and Mary Jane Bearer. Survived by wife of 59 years, the former Rae McConnell whom he married October 29, 1960 in Chest Springs, children; Kim (Mike) Kline, Ken (Michele Lacue), Sandra (Paul) Walsh, Melanie (Scott) Mertens, Amy (Steve) Taylor and Mary Bearer (Casey Bittner) and 12 grandchildren. Brother of; Fred (Loretta), Clare (Ron), Charlie (Carol), Ron (Helen), Rose Marie (Pat), Margaret, Jim (Karen), Donna (Dave), sister in law; Dorothy, brother in law, Dennis and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was a private pilot and owned his own plane, he restored John Deere tractors, he enjoyed hunting, especially elk hunting, square dancing, he was an avid cinch player and a master mechanic. Joe worked for North Cambria Fuel, Blairsville for 50 years and retired in 2006. Member of the NRA, Rembrandt Club, St. Benedict, and various square dancing clubs. He was also a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Nicktown, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, Father Jeremiah, Celebrant. Committal, St. Joseph Cemetery, Carrolltown. Friends will be received from 4 until 8 PM Thursday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613 where a Vigil Service will be held Thursday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or A-T Children’s Project in Joe’s memory. www.gibbonsfhashvillecoalport.com

We will always remember flying with Ken especially our trip to the AYA convention with Ken, Rae and Mary. He was a very special caring gentlemen. Our condolences to the Family.
