James “Jim” F. Weakland, 78, of Ashville, passed away April 16, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born February 17, 1946, in Chest Springs, son of the late Bernard and Rita (Little) Weakland. Preceded in death by four brothers: William, Edward, Bernard Jr., and Robert. Survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Mary Ann Wilt, children: Sharon (Matthew) Cursio, and Gary (Tammy Bender) Weakland, 5 grandchildren: Chelsea Cursio, Derek (Morgan Hilling) Cursio, Tyler Weakland, Gavin Weakland, and Kurtis Weakland, one great grandson, Cameron Cursio, with twins on the way, also survived by 2 sisters: Geraldine Bradley and Anita Kline, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim enjoyed antiquing, organizing his annual yard sales, he had a love for hunting and cutting firewood. Carpentry was another passion of his. He was the owner of Weakland Construction where he partnered with his son, Gary for over 40 years. He was an active member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs. Jim’s gentle and compassionate nature will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He found great joy in the company of his loved ones, especially with his grandchildren and most recent great-grandson, all of whom will never forget the countless rides on the golf cart. At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing. A private Mass will be held for the family only.
