Wilfred Miller Obituary

Wilfred P. “Will” Miller, 83, St Augustine, died May 27, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born April 19, 1938 in Spangler, son of the late Elmer A. and Annie J. (Anna) Miller. Preceded in death by these brothers and sisters; Clarence, James, Hilda Williams, Dorothy Himes, Laverne Ives, Cyril, Harold “Hark”, John, and Lloyd. Survived by wife of 57 years, the former Betty Ann Mulligan whom he married October 5, 1963 in St. Augustine, son, Dr. Russell P. Miller and his wife, the former Lori Kosicki, siblings; Alene (Earl) Smithmyer of Ashville, Thomas of Bellwood, David (Mary Jane Nelson) of Ashville, Patricia of Ashville, and Gary (Patty Chverchko) of Ashville, sisters in law; Delores Miller of Ashville and Sandy Huber of Altoona. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Will loved to read and enjoyed nature through the joys of hunting, fishing, vegetable gardening, bird watching, riding his four wheeler and chopping firewood for winter. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, where he learned his trade of plumbing and pipefitting. Will was a lifelong member of the UA Local 354 plumbers & pipefitters. He retired from SCI, Smithfield as a plumbing instructor in 2001. A member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, where he served as an Extraordinary Minister, an usher, and was always involved in church projects and activities, and served as the plumber for the church buildings for many years. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Rev. Jerzy Augustick OFM, Celebrant. Committal, Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 until 8 PM Tuesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Tuesday afternoon.
