Virginia A. “Gin” Strohmier, 84, of Loretto, died May 28, 2024, at home. She was born July 6, 1939, in Munster, daughter of the late Pius S. and Grace R. (Hite) Krug.  Preceded in death by husband Bernard C. on January 10, 2021, daughter Carla Smith on December 19, 2023, grandson, Charles Smith, great granddaughter Katriel, brothers and sisters: Norma Rickens, Leroy, Elizabeth “Bett” Peters, Lillian “Eig” Cameletti, Carl, Marie Clinemyer Florence “Skip” Jones and Eugene “Eugh”. Survived by sons: Kevin and Cory, son-in-law Barry Smith, 7 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, siblings: Dori (Ray) Archihofsky, Russell (Jeanie Raymond), and Nancy (Peter) Balcom, sister-in-law, Eileen (Wills) Krug, brother-in-law, Dave Jones, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gin enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, knitting, fishing and camping. She had worked as a rural postal carrier for 30 years out of the Loretto Office. Member of the Legion of Mary and the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Loretto, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, Very Rev. John D. Byrnes, Celebrant.
