Velma R. (Flemming) Gates

Velma Gates, 90, formerly of Beaver Valley, died July 30, 2022. Born June 5, 1932 in Beaver Valley, daughter of the late William and Grace (Davis) Flemming. Preceded in death by her husband, George on April 28, 1998, and these brothers and sisters; Loy, Lewis, Lester, Mary Drear, Effie Mae Noel, and Emma Barnhart. Survived by daughter, Barbara Thacker, grandchildren; Brandon Hescox, Brent (Jessica) Hescox, and Bethany (Shane) Pepe, 6 great grandchildren; Brooke, Bryson, Jordan, Dylan, Michael, and Makayla. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Velma was the last member of her immediate family. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially going to their sporting events, she also enjoyed being outdoors, camping, and going out to eat. Velma worked at Sylvania in Altoona for 28 years and retired in 1978. Former member of the Eastern Star and Beaver Valley United Methodist Church. Friends will be received from 11 :00 AM until time of funeral service at 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1085 Main St., Coalport, PA 16627, Pastor John Poe officiating.
