Toby R. Hughes, 69, of Flinton, PA, passed away on March 10, 2025, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a courageous battle of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Toby was born February 7, 1956, in Tucson, Arizona, son of the late Reese W. and Patsy (Killingworth) Hughes. Preceded in death by half- sisters: Vicki Morrison and Sandy Steffy. Survived by his loving wife of 50 years, the former Edna Beers, whom he married August 31, 1974 in Coalport, children: Jennifer (Scott Berent) Monahan, Suzanna (Kyle) Keels, Joseph (Jaime) Hughes, and Jacob (Jamie) Hughes, 6 grandchildren: Derrian (Kelsey) Matchock, Reese, Rhyan, Rob, Claire, and Amelia, 1 great granddaughter, Karsyn. Other family members, Brandon (Sarah) Maruna. Rex (Susan) Schramm; sister, Martha (Richard) Schickling. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Toby was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam Era War. He had worked as a drilling operator for strip-mining company. Toby’s life will be celebrated by a gathering at his home on Saturday March 15, 2025, from 1 until 3 PM.
