Theresa Sumner, 91, Loretto, died December 9, 2021 at home. Born February 5, 1930 in Chest Springs, daughter of the late John and Mary (Maloney) Weakland. Preceded in death by first husband, Cyril on April 8, 1967, second husband, Paul Adams on March 5, 2004, sons; Bill and Larry “Fuzzy”, daughter, Susan Nagle, grandson Ethan John Sumner, son in law, Dwight “Cork” Burkhart, brothers and sisters; Paul A., Bernard, Jim, Marie Eckenrode, Gertrude Ivory, Mary Eckenrode, and John. Survived by children; Carol Burkhart, Jim (Shelly Baker), Diane Sumner, Debbie Corbett (Ralph Munoz), Sharon (Roger) Bellingar, and Paul (Jen Mazzocco) Adams, daughters in law; Joan (Conrad) Sumner, and Lillian (Bloomberg) Sumner, 18 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, brother, Paul “Mick” (Mary Grace Wilt) Weakland, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Theresa enjoyed watching Catholic Mass on television, playing cards and games with family, bowling, and dancing. She had worked in housekeeping at St Francis University, Loretto for 17 years. Member of the Ashville VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Pleasant Hill Grange, Chest Springs, and St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 PM Monday, Rev. Jerzy Auguscik OFM Celebrant. Committal, Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 until 6 PM Sunday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Sunday.
