Scott Hanlon Obituary

Scott Hanlon, 35, R. D. Loretto, died February 27 at home due to a sudden illness. Born June 5, 1985 in Altoona, son of Philip and Sharon (Farabaugh) Hanlon. Preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Larry and Thelma (Krug) Hanlon and maternal grandparents, Dennis and Rita (Hite) Farabaugh. Survived by parents of R.D. Loretto, his beautiful wife, the former Kate Kirby, whom he married August 11, 2017 in Ocean City, MD, dedicated Dad to Gabriel and stepdaughter, Lila, brother, Pat (Joelle Knopp) and their children, Mia and Taylor of R.D. Gallitzin. Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Scott was a graduate of Penn Cambria High School, Class of 2003. He attended Penn State and Penn Highlands College. Scott was an accomplished professional free-style performer with a dirt bike. He traveled the world performing, including Paris, France, Poland, Newfoundland, Taiwan, Canada, Mexico and all over the United States. Freestyle was his passion until he met his wife and started a family. He worked for Snyder Environmental, Johnstown, where he was a dedicated worker and he loved his job. Member of the Basilica of St. Michael Catholic Church, Loretto, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Thursday, Very Rev. John D. Byrnes, Celebrant. Committal, Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 until 8 PM Wednesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Wednesday afternoon.
