Samuel J. Pupo, 76, of Cresson, died August 9, 2024, at UPMC Altoona. Born February 14, 1948, in Cresson, son of the late Margaret Pupo. Preceded in death by wife, the former Paulette Wahl on January 20, 2001, and son, Randy. Survived by daughter, Christine (Aaron) Lidwell, grandchildren: Briana Lidwell (Matthew Maruska), and Jaden Lidwell, and a brother, John Pupo. Sam was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate Fan, and he enjoyed going to church and playing bingo. He was a former Police Chief for Allegheny Township, and Cresson Township and served as a Constable for Cresson Township. Sam was a member of the Cresson Volunteer Fire Company. He was recognized for his heroics of saving 3 children in a 1969 fire. He was also a member of St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin. At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing. A Committal Service will be held at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Cresson at 4:00 PM Thursday, Rev. Albert Ledoux officiating.
