Ruth V. Zakowsky, 93, Flinton, died February 17, 2022 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born August 29, 1928 in Patton, daughter of the late Modestus and Dorothy (Conrad) Bender. Preceded in death by husband, Albert “Al” on January 13, 2013, son, Edward, brothers; Albert, Harry, Edwin, Wilfred, Leo, and Joseph, and sisters; Mary Price, Susan Sharbaugh and Anna Bender. Survived by children; Linda (Frank) Williams of Lyleville, Carol Sickles of Flinton and Dale of Flinton, 4 grandchildren; Steven (Chris) Brink, Amanda Brink, Leonard Brink, and Benjamin (Kimberly) Brink, 7 great grandchildren, brothers and sisters; Anthony (Millie) Bender of Duncansville, Raymond (Clara) Bender of Loraine, OH, Myrtle (late Eddie) McKee of Cranberry, Loretta (late Chuck) Wilt of Duncansville, Dolly (late Robert) Haid of Cresson, Bernard (Peggy) Bender of Loretto, Irvin (Jeanie) Bender of Delaware, and Marge (Roger) Crist of Duncansville, brother in law, Cyril (Betty Zakowsky) Legros of Patton. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth enjoyed putting puzzles together and had many framed, crocheting and word search books. She was a life member of the Coalport VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
