Rose Rieg Obituary

Rose Rieg, 96, of Chest Springs, died January 29, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 17, 1928, in Gallitzin, daughter of the late Chester and Colette (Long) Koons. Preceded in death by her husband Bob on March 13, 2017, grandson, Christian Rieg, daughter-in-law, Robyn Rieg, son-in-law, Phil Dignan, sisters: Ruth Luther, and Irma Buck, and brothers: Frank Koons and Dave Koons. Survived by children: Ed (Marian) Rieg, Debra Dignan, Russ Rieg (Jenn), Jerry Rieg (Patty), Chuck (Mary Jo) Rieg, Ken (Pamela) Rieg, and Jeanene (John) Pramuk, 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, sister, Susie Murphy, brother, Phil (Trish) Koons, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rose enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and embroidering. She coached Little League Baseball in Chest Springs for a number of years. Member of the 4H and Grange, Chest Springs and an active member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Monday, Rev. Mariusz Gorazd, Celebrant. Committal St. Monica Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation be made to St. Monica Catholic Church, in Rose’s memory. www.gibbonsfhashvillecoalport.com
