Robert A. DeRose Sr., 89, Coupon Gallitzin Rd., Ashville, died April 20, 2021. Born March 3, 1932 in Altoona, son of the late Anthony and Angela (Fusco) DeRose. Preceded in death by wife, the former Mary “Toots” Racz on August 5, 2008, son Robert Jr., son in law, Jule Smith, sisters; Helen West and Pearl Dalton, and brothers; Frank, Ronald, and Jack. Survived by daughters; Laverne “Lee” Smith of Ocean City, MD, and Jeanine (Jon) Peterson of Mount Union, 3 grandchildren; Teresa (Bob) Rueppel, Robert lll, and Lauren (Jeremy) Hillard. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Bob was the last member of his immediate family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing the lawn and going to the beach and casinos. Bob was a union carpenter and belonged to the carpenter’s union where he was past president of the Altoona Local. Also a very active member of the Ashville Volunteer Fire Company. Friends will be received from 5 until 7 PM Friday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613 where the Ashville Volunteer Fire Company will provide a Memorial Service at 7:00 PM. Committal, Amsbry Union Cemetery, Gallitzin.
