Rita M. (Ivory) Strittmatter Obituary

Rita M. Strittmatter, 89, of Chest Springs, died October 20, 2024, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Mike Yeager of Patton. She was born November 20, 1934, in Chest Springs daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Conrad) Ivory, preceded in death by husband Paul in 1981, sons: Tommy, Bill, infant son, Jerry, daughter, Sis Driskel, daughter-in-law Mary Anne and brothers and sister: Paul Ivory and Fred Ivory, and Rose Fontanella. Survived by children: Marie (Mike) Yeager, Patrick Strittmatter, Robert Strittmatter, Sue (Dave) Hoover, and Paula (Kelly) Kitchen, son-in-law, Jim Driskel, 17 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and one great- great grandson. Brothers and sisters: Laird Ivory, Ruth O’Leary, Jean Ivory, Theresa (Pat) Zupon, and Jack (Erin) Ivory. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Rita enjoyed playing bingo, cards, lottery and slot machines, as well as gardening. She retired as a nurse’s aide in 1995 from Laurel Crest Manor, Ebensburg. Former member of Ashville VFW Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered at St. Michael’s School, Loretto. Member of Chest Springs Senior Citizens and St. Monica Catholic Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM Thursday, Rev. Mariusz Gorazd, Celebrant. Committal, St. Monica Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4PM until 8 PM Wednesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held at 6PM Wednesday. The family would like to thank Aseracare Hospice for their kindness.
