Rita A. (McNulty) Kibler Obituary

Rita A. Kibler, 89, of Altoona, died August 16, 2024, UPMC Altoona surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 4, 1934, in St. Augustine, daughter of the late Maurice and Jane “Jennie” (Adams) McNulty. Preceded in death by daughter, Carrie Kibler Detwiler, brothers: James and Patrick, and sister, Mary Jane Yahner. Survived by husband of almost 72 years, Gerald “Jerry”, whom she married October 4, 1952, in St. Augustine, children: Michael (Mary Ann) of North Carolina, Patrick (Kathy) of Hollidaysburg, Pamela Witmer of Camp Hill, and Joseph (Amy) of Southport, North Carolina. Rita was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Eleanor Balzano Cree of Altoona, a brother, Richard (Mary Alice) of Apollo, and numerous nieces and nephews. Rita enjoyed pranks and costumes, music, reading, cooking, and most importantly being a Grandma. She had worked as a medical secretary for Bon Secours Holy Family Hospital for 20 years. She was a member of the Cursillo of Altoona Johnstown Diocese, the Association of the Carmelite Community of the Word, Gallitzin, and the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Tuesday, concelebrated by Rev. Msgr. Stanley Carson, Rev. Mark Begly, and Rev. Leonard Voytek. Committal, St. Augustine Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5 until 8 PM Monday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, or Bishop Guilfoyle High School in Rita’s memory. www.gibbonsfhashvillecoalport.com
