Rita “Miriam” Jacobs, 84, of Dean, died September 9, 2022 at the Lutheran Home of Hollidaysburg. She was born July 16, 1938 in Philipsburg, daughter of Ferman and Mary (Reilly) Andrews. Preceded in death by parents, son in law, Raymond Farabaugh, and these brothers and sisters; Eileen Andrews, Betty Long, James Andrews, Larry Andrews, Patrick Andrews, and Helen Morris. Survived by husband of 62 years, James Jacobs, whom she married February 20, 1960 at St. Basil Catholic Church, Coalport, children; Becky (John) Bettwy, Michael (Wendy Heuston), Paula Farabaugh, Kevin (Peggy Reilly), Mary Jo (Paul) Farabaugh, and Mark (Summer Storm), 16 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, sisters in law, Mary Jane Andrews and Willetta “Toots” Srock, brother in law, Robert Morris and numerous nieces and nephews. Miriam was the last member of her immediate family. She received her nursing degree from Miseracordia Hospital of Nursing in Philadelphia and worked as a registered nurse at the Altoona Hospital for several years. She, along with her husband Jim, founded the Jacobs Oil Company of Dean in 1970. Miriam enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and she was an avid golfer. She was a member of the Summit Country Club, Cresson, Inverness Golf Country Club in Florida and St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Frugality where she had served as a Eucharistic Minister. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant. Committal will be at St. Thomas Cemetery, Ashville. Friends will be received from 2 until 8 PM Monday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Monday.
