Richard "Dick" Mullen Obituary

Richard “Dick” Mullen, 84, of Cresson, formerly of Loretto, died July 11, 2021. Born October 13, 1936 in R.D. Loretto, son of the late Regis and Gertrude (Beiswenger) Mullen. Preceded in death by wife, the former Theresa Bradley on March 29, 2011, 3 infant sisters, and brothers; Robert and Francis “Leo”. Survived by loving daughters; Yvonne Fitzpatrick of Lilly, Annette (James) Kelly of Carrolltown, Monica (Kevin) Carothers of Gallitzin, Roxanne (David) Lamer of Ebensburg, and Wendy (Ronald) Lute of St. Benedict, 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, his special friend, Shirley Petrunyak, brothers and sisters; James (Lois Smith) of Nanty Glo, Marie (Bill) George of Lewistown, Donald (Kathey Corley) of Westminster, MD, John (Jeanie Bender) of Ebensburg, Elizabeth “Betty” (Christopher) Rankin of Cartersville, VA, Patrick (Gail Plemmons) of Sabissville, MD and Bernice (Gary) Murphy of Florida. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Dick was an Army Veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, he also enjoyed camping. Dick worked for Cooney Brothers Coal Company, Cresson and retired in 1994, he then worked for Wilkinson Bus Lines, Cresson and drove for the Upper Bound Program at St. Francis University.  He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Loretto Council 11196 and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Prince Gallitzin Assembly 0919, and a very active member of the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Loretto, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 PM Friday, Very Rev. John D. Byrnes, Celebrant. Committal, St. Michael Cemetery, Loretto. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service and a Knights of Columbus Memorial Service will be held Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Loretto, in Dick’s memory.
