Richard H. Gailey Sr. 73, of Amsbry, died August 21, 2023, at home. Born September 16, 1949, at home in Juniata Township, Blair County, son of the late Clarence A. Sr. and Helen M. (McConnell) Gailey. Preceded in death by wife, the former Anna Rosian on March 14, 2017, and son, Scott in 1996. Survived by sons: Richard Jr. (Angel Hamblin) of Sidney, Ohio and David (Shawna Harris) of Altoona, 4 grandchildren: Davin, Alex (Shay), Nathan, and Mekhi, brothers and sisters: William of Greencastle, Donald of Portage, Edna Klejka of Niles, Ohio, Ethel Dongell of Conway, South Carolina, Clarence Jr. (Agnes) of Carrolltown, Shirley Wirfel of Summerhill, Ed (Karen) of Coupon, Susan (Glenn) Trout of Duncansville, Theresa Grimes of Mark Hanna, Joseph of Gallitzin, Judy (James) Conrad of Altoona, Frederick (Lucinda) of Gallitzin, and Helen Luke of Mark Hanna. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting and classic cars. He had worked as a conductor for the railroad for 36 years out of Cresson and Altoona. He was a Peer Spec. at Tomorrows Hope, Coalport, and volunteered at Veteran X Program at James E. Van Zandt Hospital, Altoona. Member of the Ashville VFW, and the Basilica of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Loretto, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM Friday, Rev. John D. Byrnes, Celebrant. Committal, Amsbry Union Cemetery, R.D. Gallitzin. Friends will be received from 2 until 8 PM Thursday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St. Ashville, PA 16613 where a Vigil Service will be held Thursday.
