Paul “Beans” Shingle, 67, of Summerhill, died June 3, 2023 at home peacefully with his wife by his side. Born June 11, 1955, in Spangler, son of the late Donald William and Dora (Nagle) Shingle. Preceded in death by brother, Michael and mother-in-law, Darlene Shevock. Survived by his wife, Marj, whom he married October 6, 2000, daughter, Heather Shingle, and son, Greg Shingle, bonus daughters: Amanda (Bryan) Gray and Victoria (Gage) Stewart, 3 grandchildren: Tiera, Taylar, and Trey Myers, brothers and sisters: Donna (Dick) Clark, William “Bill” (Donna), Sharon (Jim) Sheehan, Sandra (Roger) Tonsfeldt, twins; David (Donna) and, Daryl (Mary), Elaine Hicks, Melanie (Jim) Retallack, Roberta (Tom) Fry, and Mark (Barb), father -in-law, Frank Shevock, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Paul enjoyed kayaking, playing pool and telling stories. He retired in 2007 after 34 years of service from Freight Car America, Johnstown. He was currently employed at Forest Hills Pharmacy and St. Michael Legion, where he was the proud commander of the Sons of the American Legion Squadron, 551, and served in the Honor Guard. Paul is the First Vice Commander of District 20. Friends will be received from 4 until 8 PM Tuesday and from 9 AM until time of funeral Service at 11 AM Wednesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, Rev. Timothy Dietrich, officiating. Interment, St. Monica Cemetery, Chest Springs.
