Norman Storm Obituary

Norman T. Storm, 85, of Punxsutawney, died June 18, 2024, at home. He was born June 16, 1939 in Cresson, son of the late Charles and Gertrude (Gallagher) Storm. Preceded in death by brothers: Robert Paul, Donald, Francis “Stormy”, and Charles, and sister, Larue Grimes. Survived by wife of 63 years, the former Verna Eyer, whom he married September 17, 1960, in Ashville, children: Brian (Ivy) Storm of Chambersburg, Susan (Tom) Matus of Pittsburgh, and Carolyn (Jason) Buckley of Columbus, Ohio, 6 grandchildren: Natalie Storm, Jordan Matus, Nicole Matus, Shayla (Andy) King, Mckenna Buckley, and Peyton Buckley, 2 great grandchildren: Charlotte and Jackson King, brothers and sisters: Dorothy Fleming, Lois (Ed) Simanski, Janet (Hampton) Durbin, Thomas (Janet) Storm, Rita (Fred) Burgoon, Sheila (Randy) Bottenfield, and Cynthia Storm (Keith Van Blargan), and sister-in-law, Audrey Storm. He was a Navy Veteran. Norm was happiest when spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cycling, and camping. Norm worked as a school teacher in Martinsburg, and Blairsville, and later became the University Administrator of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Punxsutawney Campus, until his retirement in 1997. Member of St.’s Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church, Punxsutawney. Friends will be received from 1:00 PM until time of Prayer Service at 3:00 PM Saturday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613.
