Michael D. Passanita, 56, Roseland Road, Coalport, died June 15, 2022 at home surrounded by family. Born February 10, 1966 in Altoona, son of the late Ronald G. and Margaret “Peg” (Ebig) Passanita. Preceded in death by infant brother, John and sister, Theresa Williams. Survived by spouse, Daniel J. Moyer whom he married September 6, 2014 in Rehoboth Beach, MD. brother, Ron (Brenda Krise), sisters; Shelly (Kevin) Laffey, Nina (Stan) Kimberly, and Martina (Mark) Zeanchock. Also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mike received an associate’s degree from Newberry College, Brookline, Massachusetts in Culinary Arts. He worked as a chef at St. Francis University, Loretto and the State Prison in Somerset and Houtzdale, before owning and operating Passaniti’s Restaurant, Dysart from 2016 until 2022. Mike loved animals, particularly horses, he enjoyed gardening, had a passion for cooking, and loved to entertain and cook for family and friends. He supported March of Dimes through their annual Signature Chef’s Auction for many years, winning the People’s Choice Award two years in a row. At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 25, 2022 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant.
