Mary Ann Thompson, 91, Coalport, died December 31, 2021 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born December 5, 1930 in Irvona, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Jane (Diggins) Giles. Preceded in death by husband, Howard “Curly” Thompson on March 1, 2004, son, William, brothers; Grover, Fred, Bill and Charles, and sisters; June West, Bessie Giles and Libby Decker. Survived by daughter, Barbara (Scott) Striep of Beachwood, NJ, 4 grandchildren; Janice (John) Ozio, William “Billy” Kuhn, Angie Nearhood (Joe Gallaher), and Trudie (Joe) Adams, 5 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Mary Ann had worked at Sylvania, Altoona for 13 years and retired in 1989 from Riverside Market, Coalport after 11 years. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, going out to eat and her game nights with her many friends, and shopping. She was a member of the Glendale Homemakers and the Coalport Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Friends will be received from 4 until 8 PM Wednesday and from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM Thursday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1085 Main St., Coalport, PA 16627, Rev. Isaac Stewart officiating. Interment, Fairview Cemetery, R.D. La Jose.
