Mary Theresa Nagle, 97, a resident of John Paul II Manor, Cresson, formerly of St. Augustine, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus on December 2, 2024, at John Paul II Manor. She was born March 12, 1927, on a farm between Chest Springs and Loretto, daughter of the late Ferdinand C. and Mary (Strohmier) Nagle. She was preceded in death by her sisters: Josephine Nagle, Dora Shingle, Helen (Sister Ferdinand, RSM) Nagle, Marie (Sister M. Aloysia, RSM) Nagle, and Constance “Connie” Kessler, her brothers, Joseph F., Robert J., and Father Gerald J. (MM). She is survived by sister-in-law, Florence (Adams) Nagle, brother-in-law, Francis J. “Benny” Kessler, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Theresa graduated from Mt. Aloysius Academy (1945) and Jr. College (1947), Cresson, Marywood College, Scranton, (1949), the Catholic University, Washington, DC (1961) with a masters degree in library science. As a librarian she served in the United States, Germany, Philippines, and Peru. In 1956 she became a member of the Maryknoll Sisters, NY, and served with them for 20 years. Since 2001 she has been living and serving in the Cumberland and Cambria County areas. Her favorite Bible verse is John 8:31:32, “If you continue (Stand Fast) in my word, you are truly my disciple and you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free”. Former member of St. Augustine Catholic Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant. Committal, St. Augustine Cemetery. Friends will be received from 9:30 AM until 10:45 AM Thursday at St. Augustine Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Salvation Army or St. Vincent DePaul Society in Theresa’s memory.
