Mary E. “Betty” McConnell, 94, a guest of Maple Winds Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Portage, formerly of Cresson, was received into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Maple Winds. Born May 5, 1930, in Cresson, daughter of the late Albert and Gertrude (Luther) Callahan. Preceded in death by husband Earl on January 10, 1985, children: Kenneth, Joseph, Diane Murray and David, brothers and sisters: Rose Marie Eyler, Kathleen Payne, Freida Zonts James, Irene Sykola, Pat Callahan and Albert Callahan. Survived by children: Dale (Margie Yahner) of Loretto, John (Cindy Foder) of Cresson, and Robert of Ebensburg, son-in-law William Murray of Cresson, daughter-in-law, Cathy McConnell of Jacksonville, FL, 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a brother Darrell Callahan. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Betty enjoyed reading, gardening, and her flower beds, she also enjoyed sewing which was her source of employment for many years in the shoe and shirt factories. Member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Cresson, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, December 30, 2024, Rev. Leo Arnone, Celebrant. Committal, Church Cemetery.
