Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Hale, 90, of Dysart, died August 17, 2022 at UPMC Altoona surrounded by her loving family. Born February 25, 1932 in Dysart, daughter of the late John and Orvetta (Plunkett) Grimes. Preceded in death by husband, Donald “Nips” Hale on March 10, 2001, infant sister, Geraldine, sisters and brother; Regina Gibbons, Coletta Landon, Telford Grimes, Bernice Grimes, and Winifred Dworak. Survived by children; Donald (Linda Hoover), Diana (Larry) Matish, twins; Kathy (Tim) Rhodes and Eileen (Tom) Durbin. 10 grandchildren; Jennifer (Dennis) Link, Shannon (Ed) Grove, Philip (Shannon) Matish, Steven Matish, Timmy (Holly) Rhodes, Jessica (John) King, Mike (Jackie) Rhodes, Mat (Becky) Rhodes, Sara Drass (Derek Coy), and Rebecca Durbin, 18 great grandchildren with two on the way, and 4 great great grandchildren, brother, Merle (Ruth Dumbeck) Grimes, and sisters in law; Betty Grimes and Alice Hale. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was devoted to her family, and she enjoyed playing bingo, lottery tickets and going for rides. Member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant. Committal, Richland Cemetery, Dysart. Friends will be received from 4 until 8 PM Sunday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Sunday.
