Mark E. Vinglish Obituary

Mark E. Vinglish, 70, Ashville, died October 26, 2021 at UPMC Altoona from COVID-19 complications. Born June 7, 1951 in Ashville, son of the late Edward J. and Ann C. (Marra) Vinglish. Preceded in death by step nephew, Ryan Diehl. Survived by brothers and sister; Kevin (Colleen Eckenrode), Keith, and Mira all of Ashville, a niece and 2 nephews; Matt (Carrie), Sarah (Shawn Paronish), and Tanner, 2 great nephews; Nathan and Ethan, step niece, Amy (Steve) Kass and family and nephew, Keith Diehl. Also survived by numerous cousins and friends. Mark was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served in CO D 1st BN, 12 CAV, and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Air Medal, 1 OS Bar and Combat Infantry Badge. He enjoyed traveling, gambling, and playing the lottery. Mark retired from James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center as a nursing assistant after many years of service. Life member of the Ashville Volunteer Fire Company, and member of the Ashville VFW where he served as an officer. Also a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant. Committal St. Thomas Cemetery, Ashville. Friends will be received from 5 until 8 PM Thursday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St, Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Thursday. Military Rites in charge of Ashville VFW and other Local Military Organizations.
