Margaret M. Whiteford, 64, of Patton, died December 22, 2023. She was born October 17, 1959, in Altoona, daughter of the late Charles and Sarah (Watt) McMullen. Preceded in death by brother, John “Jack, twin sisters: Catherine (Philip) Leise and Teresa Lengyel, and mother-in-law Lucille Whiteford on December 8, 2023. Survived by husband of 39 years, Leonard W. “Lenny” Whiteford, whom she married September 8, 1984, at St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, children: Laura Whiteford of Patton, Christopher (Kristen Pearce) Whiteford of Bellwood, and Marcus (Jennifer Zaman) Whiteford of Altoona, grandson Leonard “Leo” Whiteford, brothers and sisters: Wayne (Eileen McNulty) McMullen, James (Eileen Byrnes) McMullen, Emma McMullen, Patty (Dave) Kibler, and Agnes Lynch, numerous nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law, Mary McMullen and Nancy Whiteford, and brothers-in-law, Timothy Lengyel, and Jerry (Sue Yeager) Whiteford. Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, baking, and camping. She had worked as a secretary for the Franciscan Friars, Loretto and she was the housekeeper for Queen of Peace rectory, Patton for a number of years. For 20 plus years she was a committee chair for the Boy Scouts of America Troop 95, Patton, the Laurel Highlands Council, Keystone District Committee member, and she received the Keystone District Award of Merit with the Boy Scouts of America. Margaret was a very active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton (Bakery) and where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 30, 2023, Rev. Ananias OSB, Celebrant. Committal, St. Mary Cemetery, Patton. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Friday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Friday.
