Margaret Ann “Peggy” Maddalena, 80, of Coalport, died November 7, 2023, at UPMC Altoona. Born December 19, 1942, in Coalport, daughter of the late Clair L. “Bucky” and Ann S. (Shumosky) Peacock. Preceded in death by husband Thomas A. on October 30, 1997, grandson Nicholas James Strawmier on November 10, 2006, and cousins: Nancy Genesi, and Lisa (Belsey) Pufka. Survived by daughter, Michelle L. (Christopher J.) Strawmier of Altoona, grandson Christian Thomas Strawmier, cousins: Janet Belsey, Tammy (Barry) Fox, and Michele Belsey. Also survived by her loving dog Lucy Lou. Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandson, going to the beach, gardening, and reading. She graduated from BCI High School, she was an undergraduate at St. Francis College, Loretto, and received her masters degree in education from Penn State. She taught school at Clearfield Area School District for 42 ½ years. Peggy served as Mayor for Coalport Boro for over 20 years and was dedicated to serving her community. Former Board member BCI Water Authority, former board member of the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Former Glendale Education Association, former Glendale School Board member, member of PA Association of retired teachers, Glendale Area Womens Club, PA State Association of Borough Mayors, PA Farm Bureau, and founding member of the Coalport Streetscape Committee. Life member of St. Basil Catholic Church where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, Rev. Zab Amar, Celebrant. Committal St. Basil Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 until 8 PM Friday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1085 Main St. Coalport, PA 16627 where a Vigil Service will be held Friday. Peggy received a Liver and Kidney transplant in 2011 and a Kidney in 2016 form a donor chain, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to UPMC Montefiore Thomas E.
