Louis Joseph Benzie Jr.
January 19, 1975 – January 22, 2025

Louis Joseph Benzie Jr., a beloved son, brother, uncle, and devoted partner, left this world far too soon on January 22, 2025. Lou's incredible spirit touched everyone who knew him, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.

Lou is survived by his mother, Theresa; father, Louis Sr. (Carolyn); his brother, Michael (Danielle); his cherished nephews, Liam and Michael; his love and best friend, Rebecca and her children, Riley and Caleb; and his pup, Frankie. He is also survived by his extended family and  countless friends, all of whom treasured him deeply.

A proud graduate of Penn State University, Lou earned a degree in Biology with a focus on Wildlife and Fisheries. His education reflected his lifelong passion for the natural world, which he embraced wholeheartedly. Lou found joy in every moment spent outdoors, whether it was the serenity of fishing at dawn, the thrill of hunting in the woods, or the simple satisfaction of tending to his garden. Nature was not just a hobby for Lou—it was where he found his greatest peace and purpose.

In his professional life, Lou excelled as a train engineer with Norfolk Southern. He approached his work with dedication and pride.

Above all, Lou will be remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and unwavering loyalty. His love for his family and friends was evident.

Per Lou’s wishes, there will be no formal services. His family and friends will honor his memory by celebrating the extraordinary person he was—sharing stories, laughter, and love, just as he would have wanted.

Though his time with us was far too short, Lou’s legacy lives on in the memories of those who knew him best. We will forever cherish the sound of his laughter, the light in his eyes when he spoke of his passions.

In Lou’s honor, we encourage everyone to spend a little extra time outdoors, cook a meal for someone they love, or simply take a moment to appreciate the beauty of life.
