Larry Joseph "Fuzzy" Sumner Obituary

Larry Joseph “Fuzzy” Sumner, 70, Loretto R.D., died September 2, 2021 surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. Born August 22, 1951 in Spangler, son of Cyril and Theresa (Weakland) Sumner. Preceded in death by his father, son, Ethan John, brother, Bill, sister, Susan Nagle, step father, Paul Adams, and brother in law, Dwight “Cork” Burkhart. Survived by his mother, also surviving are his wife of 41 years, the former Joan Marie Conrad, whom he married June 28, 1980 in Chest Springs, daughters; Kaytlin Rose Sumner, Molly Beth (Stephen) Holland, granddaughter, Margot Sloane Holland, brothers and sisters; Carol Burkhart, Jim (Shelly Baker), Diane Sumner, Debbie Corbett (Ralph Munoz), Sharon (Roger) Bellingar, and Paul (Jen Mazzocco) Adams, an uncle and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was tough and resilient and always found a way to repair things. He loved to make others laugh. He had worked for E & E Lumber, Cresson and also as a truck driver. Larry acquired a love of stock car racing early in life and was a regular spectator at Dog Hollow Speedway. He enjoyed the outdoors, working with cars and timber, campfires, machinery of all kinds – especially his sawmill, and spending time in his garage. Larry fought hard to stay with his family because that is what mattered most to him. He will always be alive in their hearts.  At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, where friends will be received from 9:00 Am until time of a funeral Mass at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 9, 2021. Interment, St. Monica Cemetery.  Arrangements by Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613. www.gibbonsfhashvillecoalport.com
