Kevin E. Hite, 68, of Ebensburg, died August 28, 2024, at home. He was born November 11, 1955, in Spangler, son of the late William and Margaret (Stephens) Hite. Preceded in death by his wife, the former Josephine “Jo” Durbin, who Kevin cared for with unwavering devotion until her last breath on November 17, 2012, a brother, Richard, an infant sister Mary, niece, Shannon "Bucky", and nephews, Brad and James. Survived by girlfriend, Michelle Miller, children: Melisa Hite (Todd Marcoullier), Heather Novotny, and Kevin ll (Amy Kline),  grandchildren: Jocelyn Hornick, Trevor Novotny, Benjamin Hite, Tessa Novotny, Hannah Rose Hite, and Eli Hite, great-grandson, Gryphon Statler, siblings: Ruth Ann (Dan) Rindfleisch, Carol Marie (Robert) Tucker, Connie Jean (Gary) Schenk, Patty (William) Kline, Maurita Jane (Thomas) Chverchko, Leonard (Deb Abrams), Maurus (Linda Boggetta), James (Bev Bopp), his twin, Karen (Albert) Kosicki, Barbara (James) McNulty, Donald (Linda Lowmaster), and Glenn (Beth Ann Whited). Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Kevin enjoyed the special times with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, great nieces and great nephews. He also enjoyed his Sunday visits with Paul, at the Island Barbecue. Kevin's family will continue his quest for the perfect pizza. He had worked for Beth Energy Mine 33, Ebensburg for 20 years, and owned and operated the Hite Coal and Stone Company for over 30 years. Member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday, Rev Michael Gabler OSB, Celebrant. Committal will be at St. Benedict Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 until 8 PM Sunday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St. Ashville, PA 16613 and from 9 AM until 10 AM at St. Benedict Church Carrolltown.
