Karen B. Schenk, 70, of R.D. Gallitzin, died July 4, 2021 at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh. Born March 23, 1951 in Honolulu, Hawaii, daughter of Mendel and May (Freeth) Borthwick. Preceded in death by mother in 2016. Survived by her father of Honolulu, Hawaii, husband of almost 45 years, Ronald F. Schenk, whom she married July 17, 1976 in Hawaii, daughters; Penny (John “Jack”) Novak and Elizabeth “Liz” Schenk, all of R.D. Gallitzin, grandchildren; Abby and Zachery Novak, brothers; Blair (Joyce) and Douglas (Leah) all of Hawaii. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Karen loved her horses. She had worked at Blair Animal Hospital for 17 years and later worked as a care giver for 6 years at Home Instead in Duncansville. She was a member of the Amsbry United Methodist Church. Friends will be received from 4 until 8 PM Thursday and from 1:00 PM until time of funeral service at 2:00 PM Friday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, Rev. Stephen Moore, officiating. Interment will be at Amsbry Union Cemetery.
