Joseph Lysic Obituary

Joseph S. Lysic, 71, Loretto, died July 12, 2022 unexpectedly at home. Born January 12, 1951 in Cresson, son of the late Andrew and Pauline (Urban) Lysic. Preceded in death by sisters; Helena Infantino and Dorothea Ferut, brothers, John and Andrew, and his father and mother in law, Leo and Clare Noll, who loved him like a son. Survived by wife of 46 years, the former Theresa Noll, whom he married February 27, 1976 in Loretto, daughter, Leah (Todd) Garzarelli and their children, Goia and Gabe, daughter, Abby Lysic (Justin Rice) and their children, Jackson and Clare, son, Drew (grand dog, Milo), Joe’s canine companion, Sasha, sisters; Jane Pyo, Shirley Lysic, Tiz Lysic, Virginia (Jerry) Wirtes, Barbara Lysic, Lou Geisbrecht, and Debra (Colin) Hoover, and sisters in law Usha and BJ Lysic. Also survived by numerous in laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was a Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam Era War. Joe was a wonderful husband, brother, dad and pappy. He was wise but a wallflower with the most genuine and bright smile. He was a quiet, loyal and generous friend with a quick sense of humor. He will be greatly missed. Joe retired in 2005 from FCI, Loretto after 20 years of service. Member of the Loretto American Legion, Sankertown VFW, Gallitzin Moose and the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel, Loretto, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00AM Tuesday, Very Rev. John D. Byrnes Celebrant. Committal, St. Michael Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 until 7 PM Monday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Monday. Military Rites will be in charge of Loretto American Legion and other Local Military Organizations. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Michael’s School, Loretto, PA or St. Emma’s Monastery, Greensburg, PA in Joe’s memory. www.gibbonsfhashvillecoalport.com
