Janet Rice Obituary

Janet M. Rice, 90, formerly of Ashville, died December 24, 2021 at the Presbyterian Village of Hollidaysburg. Born December 30, 1930 in Cresson, daughter of the late Francis T. and Margaret L. (Ivory) Smith. Preceded in death by husband, Louis on December 27, 2004, infant daughter, Mary Frances, and sisters, Helen Marie Vogel and Betty Hoover, and brother, Edward. Survived by children; Thomas (Carol Mincin) of Altoona, Lou Ann (Geoffrey) Gray of Colorado Springs, CO, Christopher (Sue Becker) of Thornton, CO, and John (Tama Miller) of R.D. Ashville, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sister in law, Patricia (Bednair) Smith of Bradford, and numerous nieces and nephews. Janet worked as a medical secretary at the Altoona Hospital for 29 years and retired in 1995. She enjoyed her flower garden and reading. Member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg. Former member of the Ashville VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Altar Rosary Society and St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant. Committal, St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Cresson. A Private viewing will be held at the convenience of the family.
