James M. Ronan lll, 72, affectionately known as Ro, died July 22, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born January 10, 1951, in Altoona, son of the late James M. Jr. and Annastasia “Ann” (Olkowski) Ronan. Preceded in death by grandson, Connor Ronan and infant sister, Patty Ann Ronan. Survived by wife of 50 years, the former Linda McCabe, whom he married February 3, 1973, in Lilly, children: Brent (Linda Stitt), James “Scoot” (Mandi Michaels), and Lindsey Ronan (Corey Dickinson), 11 grandchildren: Olivia, Ethan, Zachary, Mason (fiance', Eden Taddei), Reagan, Kolby, Ky, Garrett, Gavin, Maddie, and Trenten, sisters and brother: Antoinette “Toni” Yokitis, Walt (Joan Bearer), and Jackie Ronan.. Also survived by several brothers and sisters in law, numerous nieces, nephews, and many "deer" friends. Ro served in the Army National Guard for six years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, maintaining the farm, and picking blueberries. Ro was an avid baseball player and in his later years maintained the Ashville Ball Field. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ashville where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Thomas, Rev. Robert Reese, Celebrant. Committal, St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 until 8 PM Tuesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a vigil service will be held Tuesday.
