James Jeffries Sr. Obituary

James D. Jeffries Sr., 66, Utahville, R.D. Coalport, died January 6, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. Born April 29, 1955 in Philipsburg, son of Darrel and Alice Mae (Swauger) Jeffries. Preceded in death by sister, Linda Lansberry. Survived by wife of 47 years, the former Sonja Ball, whom he married June 29, 1974 in Coalport, daughter, Melissa Dotts of Brockway, PA, son, James Jr. (Jessica Quinn) of Jeffries, PA, 4 grandchildren; Emilee Dotts (Dylan Apple), and Dylan Dotts, and Natalee and Tristan Jeffries, sisters and brothers; Jean (Dwane) Smeal, Ed (Susan Heverly), Margaret (Joe “Buck”) Braniff, Mary (Dave) Queen, Alice (Denny) Bungo, and Bob (Jodi Moore). Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He retired in 2016 after 21 years of service from the OPP (Office Physical Plant) at Penn State University, State College. He was a member of the NRA. At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing.  Friends will be received from 10:00 AM until time of Memorial Service at 11:00 AM Saturday January 15, 2022 at the Coalport Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Associate Pastor, Jim Smeal officiating.  Arrangements are in charge of Gibbons Funeral Home, 1085 Main St., Coalport, PA 16627. www.gibbonsfhashvillecoalport.com
