Helen G. (Mahute) Witherow

Helen G. Witherow, 81, Irvona, died November 1, 2021 at Penn Highlands, Tyrone Hospital. Born August 18, 1940 in Philipsburg, daughter of the late George and Mae (Richardson) Mahute. Preceded in death by husband, Merle on April 2, 2003, son, Thomas, daughter, Tami Witherow, and brother, Sonny Mahute. Survived by daughter, Jolene (Gary) Kost of Philipsburg, grandchildren; Tommy Witherow of Coalport, Taylor Sacolic of Irvona, and Ryan and Annie Kost, great granddaughter, Makenzie Witherow, sisters; Frances Mahute, Doris (Robert) Terza, Linda (James) Kutruff, and Kathy (Joe) Kephart. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Helen enjoyed her grandchildren and great granddaughter, playing cards, country music and dancing. She and her husband owned and operated the Alpine Tavern, Flinton for many years. Member of the Coalport Moose and formerly attended the Coalport United Methodist Church. There will be no viewing.
