Helen M. Lieb Phister, 91, Loretto, died March 25, 2021. Born August 31, 1929 in Patton, daughter of the late George W. and Helena L. (Gauntner) Long. Preceded in death by first husband, James W. Lieb and second husband, James E. Phister, sons; James E. Lieb and Thomas J. Phister, son in law, Bernard Salzman, grandson, T.J. Phister, brothers; Earl and Joseph, and sisters; Edna, Sister Mary Flora IHM, Gertrude Ranish and Edith Pfohl. Survived by children; Diane Salzman, George (Jeanne) Lieb, Patricia Lieb, Greg Lieb, Karol (Rose Marie) Lozinski, Marjorie (Gary) Whitlock, Jim (Cathy) Phister, Tim (Jeannie) Phister, Amy (J.R. ) Forsythe, and Ed (Renee ) Phister, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister, Dorothy Lieb, sister in law, Rosemary Long, and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen enjoyed music and gave many piano lessons, she enjoyed family games, and traveling. She received a BA Degree from Penn State University, in music education, and worked as a music teacher for Penn Cambria Middle School for many years, and played at the Carmelite Monastery and St. Michael School, Loretto. Helen was a member of the Basilica of St. Michael the Archangel, Loretto, where she served as the choir director and organist for over 50 years. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 Am Wednesday March 31, 2021 at the Basilica, Very Rev. John D. Byrnes, celebrant. Committal, St. Michael Cemetery, Loretto. Fiends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty, St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Tuesday afternoon.
