Geraldine T. “Red” Petrunak, 92, Altoona, died March 2, 2022 at home. Born January 1, 1930 in Chest Springs, daughter of the late Wilfred and Loretta (McConnell) Conrad. Preceded in death by grandson, Benjamin L. Petrunak, brother, Jack, and sisters; Florence Kittell, Mary Lankhorst, Bernadette Pavlock, and Evelyn Miller. Survived by husband of 72 years, Fred A. Petrunak, whom she married May 2, 1951 at St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs by Rev. Msgr. Paul Lenz. Children; Fred E. (Linda) Petrunak of Altoona, Mary Ann (Dave) Hanley of Bellwood, Gloria Jean (Eric) Hockenberry of Altoona and Philip Joseph of Altoona, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Sister, Ann Jorn of Denver, CO, very special caregivers; Lacey, Jo and Heather and several nieces and nephews. Red dedicated her entire life to her family, and was known as Red because of her gorgeous red hair. She was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona and a former member of St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday at St. Monica Catholic Church, Chest Springs, Rev. Jerzy Auguscik OFM, Celebrant. Interment, St. Mary Cemetery, Patton. Friends will be received from 1 until 4 PM Sunday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, 16613.
