Gerald “Jerry” E. Callahan, 65, of Loretto, passed away January 23, 2025, at home after a courageous battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. Jerry was born on July 23, 1959, in Patton, son of the late Francis L. And Margaret A. (Lipple) Callahan. He is survived by his loving wife, the former Nadine Kozicky. They met on May 1, 1979, and were married on May 24, 1986. He was preceded in death by his brothers: James and John. Jerry is survived by his sisters: Carolyn, Mary, and June, as well as his mother-in-law, Kathleen (Lanzendorfer) Kozicky. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Mary Anne, Linda Callahan, and Nancy (Kozicky) Edmiston. Jerry was a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews: Linda (Dan) Griesmer, Patricia (Tom) Todd, Laurie (Dave) Duke, Michael Lamar, Joshua (Nikki) Edmiston, Sarah (Theresa) Edmiston, Mary (Shawn Moore) Edmiston. He also leaves behind numerous great-nieces and great-nephews: Ellie, Easton, Drew, Emily, Paul, James, Rebecca, Josephine, Isabella, Gabriela, Garrett, Madison, and Kyle. Jerry retired in April 2010 after 20 years of service as a UNICOR Industrial Specialist at FCI Loretto. Prior to that, he worked as a motorcycle mechanic, auto mechanic, and service manager at Blair Honda. Jerry was a 1977 graduate of Cambria Heights High School in Patton and attended motorcycle mechanic school at Technical Trade School in Pittsburgh in 1978. Jerry had a passion for travel, riding his 1990 Honda Gold Wing through 49 states, with his wife, pulling a motorcycle camper and rented a motorcycle in Hawaii to ride all 50 states. Jerry and Nadine cherished their trips together. In his later Years, he enjoyed camping in his travel trailer and truck camper. Among Jerry’s favorite activities were riding motorcycles, cycling on his e-bike, golfing, playing pickleball, shooting pool and throwing darts. He had a special gift for making people laugh and uplifting those around him. His nieces and nephews adored him and he loved spending time with them. Our great love and loss is heaven’s gain. Friends will be received Tuesday from 3 PM until 7 PM at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Tuesday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Basilica of St. Michael, Loretto, Rev. John D. Byrnes, Celebrant. Committal will be at St. Nickolas Cemetery, Nicktown.
