George P. Fletcher Sr., 86, of Flinton, died June 6, 2024, at home surrounded by family. He was born February 24, 1938, in Flinton, son of Thomas W. and Clarissa (Conley) Fletcher. Preceded in death by sons: Tom and George and daughter Tammy Lee, granddaughter, Abby Fortney, grandson, Brad Fletcher, half-brothers: John, Thomas and Leroy, and brothers and sisters: Raymond, Chet, Carl, Barbara Adams, and Ethel Kephart. Survived by wife, Gail whom he married April 19, 1997 in Coalport, children: Patty Fortney, Leroy, Catherine Fletcher, Paula (Bob) Wagner, George Jr. (Lisa Oshall), Michael (Teresa Eckard), Bruce Fletcher, Erika (Micah) Waugh, and Joseph Fletcher, 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter, a sister, Orveta Snyder and numerous nieces and nephews. George was a US Navy Veteran of 6 years and served on the USS Hawkins. He enjoyed gardening, gold prospecting, metal detecting, and trap shooting. George worked in the coal mines for many years, and owned and operated George’s starter/alternator shop for 40 years in Beaver Valley. He was an active member of the Coalport VFW, where he had served as Post Commander, also a District Commander, and an All American Commander, he also belonged to the Order of Odd Fellows, Glasgow, and the United Christian Church, Beaver Valley. Friends will be received from 4 until 8 PM Monday and from 2:00 PM until time of funeral service at 3:00 PM Tuesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1085 Main St., Coalport, PA 16627, Rev.
