George M. Clapper Jr., 52, Buckhorn, died September 20, 2021. Born June 29, 1969 in Altoona, son of George M. Sr. and Kathleen M. (Kapfhammer) Clapper. Preceded in death by father on July 12, 2017. Survived by mother, former wife, Dawn Clapper, children; George lll, Jacob, and Grace, brothers; Domenic, Marc (Susan Mishock), Adam (Missy Yahner), Gregory (Missy Glacken), and Michael (Nicole Rossman). Also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. George was a Navy Veteran of the Persian Gulf War where he served on the USS Casimir Pulaski Submarine as a STS2 and was awarded numerous medals and certificates. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid Pittsburgh Penguin and Penn State fan. George retired as a federal police officer in Mechanicsburg in 2017. He volunteered at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona. He was a member of the NRA and St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin. Due to construction, the funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Cresson, Rev. Albert Ledoux, Celebrant. Committal, St. Joseph Cemetery, Coupon. Friends will be received from 4 until 8 PM Wednesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1688 Liberty St., Ashville, PA 16613, where a Vigil Service will be held Wednesday. Military Rites in charge of Ashville VFW and other Local Military Organizations. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the James E.
