Frederick C. Scanlan, 79, Lilly, passed away May 29, 2026 at UPMC Altoona. Born October 7, 1946 in Munster, son of Joseph O. and Florence C. (Sutton) Scanlan. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his twin sister, JoAnne Hoover. He is survived by his life partner, Rebecca Halapy; brothers, Donald and Glenn Scanlan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Frederick was a U.S. Navy Veteran during the Vietnam Era. He was employed as a Corporal in the PA State Police as a trooper and a Plane and Helicopter Pilot. He enjoyed flying, hunting, and fishing. He had numerous aviation certifications and licenses. Frederick was a member of Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and member of numerous American Legions and VFW’s. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 10am at St Michael’s Basilica, 321 St. Mary St. Loretto, PA 15940. Fr. John Byrnes, Officiating. Committal and Military Honors will take place at the church. Interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Tunnel of Towers.
