Frank Bakaysa Obituary

Frank Bakaysa 81, of Blain City, Coalport, died October 14, 2023, at home. He was born January 30, 1943, in Thompsontown, R.D. LaJose, son of the late George and Annie (Hook) Bakaysa. Preceded in death by wife, the former Shirley Harris on July 23, 2015, brothers: George, Mike, Andy, John, and Charles, sisters: Anna Sawyer and Susan Patrick. Survived by son, Doug and numerous nieces and nephews. Frank enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an Army Veteran where he served in the Howitzer Battalion, 92nd Field Artillery out of Clearfield. Frank retired from the Department of Revenue, Johnstown in 2004. He was a life member of the Glendale Sportsman’s Association, and served on the executive board of AFSCME, Clearfield. Frank was a life member of St. Michael Orthodox Church, Irvona, where he was a dedicated church council member for many years, and where a funeral will be held Thursday at 10:30 AM, Very Rev. Alexander Cadman officiating. Committal, St. Basil Cemetery, Coalport. Friends will be received from 5 PM until 8 PM Wednesday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, 1085 Main St., Coalport, PA 16627, where a Panikhida Service will be held at 7:30 PM Wednesday.
