Floramae “Flo” (McCullough) Hoy, 90, of Altoona, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 11, 2022. She was born April 2, 1932 in Altoona, daughter of the late Charles and Flora (Troxell) McCullough. Preceded in death by brother, Don and his wife Virginia. Survived by daughters; Debbie Hoy of Altoona and Shawndi Hoy, with whom she resided of Altoona, and son, Erick (Christina McDermott) of Mechanicsburg, her brother, Bob of Tampa, FL, and her cat, Jesse. Flo was a longtime waitress at the Heidelburg Country Club, where she was loved by the many customers she so proudly and professionally served. Flo will always be remembered as having an infectious laugh, a wonderful sense of humor and a very kind heart. She enjoyed watching television, yard sales, playing the organ and singing, catching up with old friends and animals, especially the many cats she loved over the years. She also loved riding her Harley Davidson Sportster Motorcycle during her younger days. In high school Flo was elected as President of the Girls League at Altoona High School and was a member of the high school choir, and was known as a very talented athlete, particularly in softball. Flo had been accepted to play for an all women softball team in the state of Indiana, but sadly was not able to fulfill that dream as her beloved mother had passed away. She was a longtime member of the Altoona Bible Church. We would like to thank the hospital staff at UPMC Altoona, especially in the ICU who cared so compassionately for our mother. At Flo’s request there will be no public services as the celebration of her life began when she entered Heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Altoona Bible Church or the Humane Society in Flo’s memory.
