July 28, 2023, Emilie Jane Parrish, 87, of Loretto, PA passed away peacefully at The Presbyterian Home in Hollidaysburg, PA with her family by her side. Early that morning, she was accepted into Gods loving arms.

Emilie was born in Hastings, PA in 1936 to Mary Rita Yeager and Edson Routch. She was later adopted at age 16 and raised by her grandmother Adine (Lena) and Paul (Papa Paul) Yahner.

Emilie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Lloyd Vincent Parrish, of Loretto, PA; and her children Barry Stephen Parrish and wife Cindy of McKinney, TX, Paula Jane King and husband Drew of Downingtown, PA, Tess Elaine Keirn and husband Tim of Dillsburg, PA, and Amy Lynne Woy and husband David of Canal Fulton, OH. Grandchildren: Jessica Atwood and husband Bob of Brookhaven, PA, Amy King of Arlington, VA, Carly King of Downingtown, PA, Matthew Keirn of Apex, NC, Andrew Keirn of Ebensburg, PA, Caleb Woy of Columbus, OH and Olivia Woy of New York City, NY.

Emilie and Lloyd were married at Saint Bernard Catholic Church in Hastings, PA, June 7th, 1958. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary with Family and Friends at Saint Michael’s Community Center in 2008 as well as their 65th Wedding Celebration.

Emilie graduated from Hastings Elder High School in 1954 and Johnstown Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1957, receiving her RN Degree.

She began her nursing career at Miners Hospital in Spangler, progressing to Saint Francis University Dispensary to be close to her growing family and finally at the Cresson Family Practice (Doctor Paul A. Raymond) for 27 years. After 55 years as an RN, she retired in 2012 at the age of 76.

In raising her family, Emilie volunteered as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, and helped with Loretto Little League Baseball and Boy Scouts.

Emilie was active in retirement volunteering her time between The Dorthey Day Outreach Center and taught reading in Johnstown for the disadvantaged.

A viewing will be held at Gibbons funeral home Ashville, Wednesday, Aug 2, from 7:00-9:00.

Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Aug 3 at Basilica of St Michael the Archangel, Loretto at 11:00 am.
